Mana Takata

We empower whānau by providing integrated support in housing, training and employment, and Whānau Ora services. Our goal is to remove obstacles, enabling whānau to improve their wellbeing and participate in a thriving Māori economy.

We do this through a range of programmes across the Otago region, designed to target four main areas: housing, employment trades and trainingwhānau ora services, and procurement through regional development.

Ratoka kāika Housing

The Healthy Homes programme takes an in-depth look at whānau housing in the Otago region, with a strong focus on support and guidance. This allows us to help whānau tackle things like home improvements and material hardship, which can directly affect wellbeing and good health during the cold winter months.

Ratoka hauora Health Services

Whānau Ora is a whānau-led approach to wellbeing that puts families at the centre. It supports whānau to set their own goals and build on their strengths—creating lasting change in areas like health, housing, education, employment, and cultural identity.

We walk alongside whānau, wrapping the right support around them to grow confidence, restore mana, and strengthen connections to self, whānau and community.

The Otago region is undergoing significant growth and development. Aukaha wants to ensure this provides positive opportunities for Māori and Pasifika individuals and businesses. Mana Takata is working to harness the potential of increased economic activity, and to help sector partners be more inclusive in their supply chain and employment practices.

We have significant relationships with Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and its subsidiaries, local government, tertiary education and our Treaty partners in the Otago region. Our partners all have a strong commitment to social outcomes, and we work in collaboration to facilitate supplier/contractor diversity and trade training in a range of sectors.
